The Sweet Smell of Summer
This essay was the first thing I'd ever had published besides a review of a dinner theater show for my local paper. The Sweet Smell of Summer tells the story of my family and the process of putting up corn for the winter. This gathering and preserving of food was my mom's hobby. She loved canning, making jelly, or freezing food for later meals. I do the same with memories. Mix them up into a story, then put it away for later. Here's one I can pull out for you. Enjoy. #summ #s

Cover Reveal - Have a Deadly New Year
Check out Dru's Book Musing here - for a cover reveal. The crazy thing about this book is it wasn't even a thought in my head at the first of the year. And now, it will release on December 3rd. It's a Farm to Fork book so it's set in Idaho, but in Sun Valley, the mountain community that became way too expensive for the locals. At least it was before Boise became a bedroom community for California refugees. When I was a teenager, I spent a week at the Sun Valley Lodge for a s

My writing life
I'm on a no-travel, no-event month. July usually has a few trips in there for me and there's a few conferences I wanted to attend, but I decided to take a Lynn month. We spent the 4th with friends and family and a few strays down at the cabin. Quinn and Dexter got to play in the water at the spillway for the dam. We had fireworks. And a few adult beverages. Last week I compressed my work week so I could finish a proposal for a secret project. I'm so in love with this story al

Sconed to Death - Release week
Okay, hold onto your hats. Sconed to Death releases on Tuesday which means there's a lot going on in Lynn's world. I hope you come and join me either in person or virtually. First off, if you live in the St. Louis area, my goal is to have visited all the B&N's to sign their stock by this coming Friday. Tuesday - I'll be chatting with the Between the Chapter's book club on Facebook. https://www.facebook.com/groups/betweenthechapters/ I'll also be hosting a Facebook release pa

A start of summer
The weather is turning warm and the thunder storms have started. I drove home yesterday in the rain from Chicago. The heavy, heavy traffic made the rain manageable since I didn't get up to the speed limit until the rain had slowed and I was closer to home. This year I'm going to make me a summer reading list. Just like the ones I had between school years. My plan is to read out of my own library. If I love the book, I can keep it. If not? It goes in the box to go to Goodwill

Bits and Pieces
I'm getting ready for a busy weekend. Well, actually, my life is double booked all the way through mid June. I'm getting ready for a big push for the upcoming release of SCONED TO DEATH. Saturday I'll be chatting with the murder mystery crew up in Chicago - Sulzer Public Library, 4455 N. Lincoln Avenue, Chicago. It's open to the public and books will be available for purchase and signing afterward. You can find out more here...http://www.sincchicago.com/events.html Stops in M

DEADLY SOUTHERN CHARM
A few years ago at the RWA Literacy signing, I sat next to Catherine Bybee and next to her, Mary Burton. We chatted briefly that year. The next year, Catherine wasn't signing or was at a side table with the bigger authors. So I got to talk to Mary Burton. There are over 500 authors at this signing so you don't sell a lot of books, but it's a great place to network and chat. Mary was very gracious with her knowledge for a new to the mystery genre author (me). And we kept in to

More puppies...
I can't believe it's been only a week since we picked up our two new family members. They've already gained weight and are falling into a routine. Yesterday we played outside for a while since the weather here was beautiful. Well, they played, I cleaned up leaves and moved wood that had been split and was ready for the cabin (and a bonfire.) One Potato, Two Potato, Dead hit number one on the Kobo cozy list. Thank you readers for bringing Angie and the River Vista crew into yo

Puppies...And a new release
Tuesday is release day for ONE POTATO, TWO POTATO, DEAD. Here's the blurb - Angie Turner’s restaurant, The County Seat, is conveniently located near a first-class farmers market—so her menu is full of fresh ingredients. But a visiting culinary professor has just had a taste of something very unhealthy . . . Angie first meets Daniel Monet at a local mission, where she and her chef-in-training, Hope, are serving barbeque chicken poutine to the homeless. Monet is one of Hope’s t
