SANTA PUPPY, the third Tourist Trap novella was super fun to write. Jill's trying to solve a mystery that will make one lucky woman's Christmas seem miraculous. And Kensington went all out for the cover... Do you believe in Christmas magic? #LynnCahoon #TouristTrap #TouristTrapMysteries #novella #holidaynovella #SantaPuppy #Christmas

Summer days...
Oh, those summer days… Kid Rock has a song called All Summer Long that reminds me of my first summer out on my own. It was after my first year of college and I hadn’t met my first husband yet. The guy I was dating and I went down to the river to meet friends and talk. There may have been a few alcoholic beverages involved and an illegal campfire. It was a glorious day and one that has stuck in my memory. It wasn’t because the guy was so wonderful, we broke up soon after this

Cover Reveal time...A Deadly Brew
Writing a story you have a certain image in your head. And it's great when your publisher's art team gets that image. That's what happened with A DEADLY BREW. It's perfect. Lynn As Halloween approaches South Cove, California, four couples get into the spirit of the holiday by conjuring up spirits. . . The house has sat empty for fifteen years, taking up prime real estate along the picturesque coastline. Built by one of the founders of South Cove, its last known owner, Maryan

Finishing Christmas...
Actually, it's Santa Puppy, and it's a Tourist Trap novella. Writing these short novellas has been really fun and challenging since they take place in the past (at least for South Cove folks.) Aunt Jackie was just breaking up with Josh that summer. Toby was trying to learn monogamy and failing. And a fan favorite, Sasha was still on staff at Coffee, Books, and More. The first novella, ROCKETS' DEAD GLARE, starts at 4th of July. The second, A DEADLY BREW, covers Halloween in

Authors in Deadwood
The Cowboy drove me out to South Dakota this weekend to attend Wild Deadwood Reads. Such a great reader event! And I met some amazing authors in the mix. The planning for next years event is starting now. We (meaning he) decided we should camp out rather than stay in the host hotel. Since we took the boys, it probably was a better decision and it turned out to be an amazing weekend. I'm still getting my real life legs under me after the weekend, but I loved road tripping ou

Hospitality and Homicide
Book 8 of the Tourist Trap series is releasing Tuesday, May 16. I love the little town of South Cove and it's quirky characters. I can't believe we're on book 8 with book 9 coming up in a couple of months. A series grows along with the stories. I have a map of South Cove in my head. I know if Jill wants to go to the gym, she turns left when she leaves Coffee, Books, and More. More often than not, she turns right, toward home. Or the police station to visit Greg. Or her BFF A

Home again, home again...
With a broken toe. Okay, so I'm a klutz. The good thing is I didn't break it until this morning when I was packing to come home from

The other part of a writer's life...
I'm a planner. I celebrate my birthday for the entire month. And I tend to do the same thing for my book birthdays, or release days. March was no exception. Fatality by Firelight released February 28th and I did my last March event (an online book club) on Tuesday. It's been a busy month with library events and a trip to Scottsdale and Tucson. I've had an amazing time with readers including one Missouri couple who were visiting and came to see me at the Arizona signing. I al

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas...
Or replace your favorite holiday. I went to all the local bookstores yesterday to touch base and sign any stock they had for A Story to Kill. I really enjoyed meeting with the local managers and talking about my book. But wow, the traffic, parking, and crowds reminded me what time of year it is, even if it's raining outside my window instead of snowing. For my crafty holiday, I made Lighted Garland. The instruction video is here - I hope you check it out and enjoy the days b

Coming Soon - 10-11-12
Yep, it's official. I just mailed off a contract extending the Tourist Trap series to books 10, 11, and 12. I have no idea what the books will be about, except of course, Jill, and Greg, and Aunt Jackie, and Toby, and Josh, and of course, Deek. Oops, you haven't met Deek yet. But you will, next summer. I love writing the going's on in South Cove, so if you love reading them, make sure you pre-order both Hospitality and Homicide (May 17) and Killer Party (July 17). That way, m
